In the throes of...... homework?

Tonight is the first night of the semester that I am officially working hard. Today has been productive/frustrating/not bad/weird.

This morning went by smoothly, except for the fact that I have a Zoology quiz tomorrow and an Organic test Wednesday. Whew. I have my work cut out for me, and yet I'm sitting here blogging. I discovered today that I have lost my passion  for school. I used to thrive on getting good grades and trying to be the best at things. Don't get me wrong, I love the feeling of getting an A, but I just feel like I have lost that drive. I don't want to sit around studying, I don't really enjoy classes, and I especially hate studying for tests. Also, I have found myself totally content in sucking at the violin. BUT! The good news is that I think I have also discovered the reason for this. In high school and even last year, I was pretty much a loner, except for the people that I chose to be with. Now, I feel trapped by other people, and I long to be that loner again. I was never competitive with other people. I just don't roll that way. I have only ever competed with myself, and now that other people are involved, instead of stepping it up, I back off. Like trying to just let them think that they are winning. It just makes me shut down, intellectually. I just don't work well that way, and never have. I hope I can either step up my game, or find a way to get rid of these people.

On a much happier note, all I have been able to think about this week is DISNEY WORLD!!!!! :D I will probably post on this later, but right now I have studying to do!

Poopy day....oh and he sooooooo doesn't.

Ok. This day so far has been really annoying. This morning I got up early to go to school and put flyers on cars because I was leaving campus at noon. Well, I get there and the lady who makes the flyers isn't there and there are no flyers. Ok, if this was the only time this happened, that would be fine. BUT it just so happens that things like this happen with her on a regular basis. But the kicker is she gets mad at all of us because we don't come help her do things for our group and she says 'it's not even my group.' Well, it's quite evident that you don't even want to help. SO GIVE IT UP! We don't like working with your butt anyway!!!

So after not putting flyers on cars I had 30 minutes until class so I went to the CX and got a muffin and a juice and the juice was gross! That's basically been the tone for the day.

So now I am at home studying and chilling in my walrus house shoes until time to go to work. Maybe things will go smooth there.

It's Aloha Friday!!

So, I've been thinking about adding a feature to this bloggity blog of mine. Fridays seem to be a pretty free day for me, so ya know. Lotsa bloggin time! I'm going to call this Aloha Friday, after a cute little ditty that some radio guy used to sing every Friday. It goes like this:

It's Aloha Friday,
No work 'til Monday,
We're gonna play today,
It's Aloha Friday.

*A bunch of made up Hawaiian words to the tune*

So, my idea is to share like 5 things from the week that I either found pretty/inspiring/helpful/interesting whether that be for anyone, or just me. : )

1.) I am so motivated to do well this semester because I got my final back from Organic I yesterday and I got an A- on it (after the curve)!!! Yay! This semester will be a breeze because now I know how to study! Yeah!!

2.) I really liked this picture I found on Pinterest. It makes a great point!

3.) This is a great idea! It would look so cute in a kid's room!

4.) http://www.jeremylarsonmusic.com/ This is my friend Jeremy's new website. Visit it and listen to the amazing talent he has in writing/performing music. He has done a ton of collaborations and you might have heard some of them!

5.) PINTEREST!!! Last week I joined Pinterest and it has so many cute/pretty/inspiring things and you should go and request an invite right now!!! (If you don't already have one)

Well, that's it, for now. Sorry this post is actually a day late! Haha! I will work on that later!

so far so good

I found these two candlestick holders and a set of four class Corelle plates all for $1.76!!! Woo thrift stores!!! :)

So I started school again yesterday. My schedule is pretty full on Wednesdays, but it will be fine :) Two of my classes are very exciting (Zoology and Plant Form). Then, of course, Organic II. Ew. But I am still feeling better about it than I had last semester. I mean, if I can pull off an A- last semester when half the time I was completely unprepared for classes and tests, this semester will be fine if I can just simply keep on top of it. I just can't ever take a break. I have to study every single day.

Last night after church I went to Applebee's, which was fun, but it will not be acceptable after last night. I can't be out until midnight every week. I have to be productive. So it nice and all to think, oh I'm not going to procrasinate this semester, but here are some things I am doing to combat my procrastinator tendencies!

1. I have writen down every important test/assignment date in my planner ahead of time. Right now I'm thinking that I should give myself little goals for them too, but I have never been good at listening to myself. As long as I can see a timeline of my assignments and how they compare to my other classes I think I will be fine :)

2. Organization!!! I bought a notebook and folder for each class. Last semester my papers started getting all jumbled because I bought those notebooks with the folders and that was all I used. This semester I bought three subject notebooks for each class and a folder to go with it.

3. Use my planner! Everyone at Drury gets a free planner and it is very useful. I am using it to write down homework and suggestions for what/how to study.

I am hoping very much that this semester is better than last semester. I think it will be, but don't fret. I will keep you posted ;)

Anticipation

Today is very snowy in the old Springfield. Last night I went with some of the college class to Applebee's after church and it began to snow while we were there. The roads weren't very bad on the way home, but this morning there was plenty of white stuff on the ground.

So I can't stop thinking about next week. School starts. And once again, I can't decide if I'm excited or not. I really want to be, but a part of me is really nervous that maybe I'm not ready for the biology classes I'm signed up for. You may not have heard the story, so here goes:

When scheduling time came around last semester, I knew exactly what I wanted/needed to take to stay on track with my classes and my bio/chem major. I needed to take zoology and plant form and function, but when I proceded to schedule for them, the website wouldn't let me. It's important to let you know that while I was still in highschool, an admissions rep told me that my anatomy/physiology class would be credited as the intro level biology class, but since I started in chemistry my freshman year, i haven't been able to take those level 2 biology classes until now. So anyway, I emailed the zoology teacher and she told me I couldn't take it, but then I went in and talked to her, and she was super nice. So that's check for zoo. Then plant form actually conflicted with my orchestra class, so I went in and talked to the professor and she signed me in for that. So basically, I got into the classes I wanted, and I got "signed out" of the first biology course. I just hope that doesn't affect my degree. :/

So now I am second guessing myself, and hoping that I won't be behind in those classes. So the good news is that I will only ever be in one building and I only have 3 classes. So, I really want to make the best of the semester and really improve on my time management. That's always a struggle with me lol

Well, I guess, since I am super bored today, I will research different medical schools. I enjoy thinking about/planning my future. I hope you have a great snowy day and good luck going back to school(if you haven't already)!

One Week! Eek!

Well, school starts back up in one week. I have sort of mixed feelings about this. Last semester was treacherous, on the bright side, I guess it can't get any worse than that. But on the other hand, I haven't quite recovered from last semester. That is one reason that I LOVE college, is that you have a whole month in between the fall and spring semesters.

So I have decided that I am going to make this the best semester yet. All of my classes are science classes (I'm a science major, so that makes me really happy) and so all of my classes will be in the same building. I won't have the awkward walking from one end of campus to another and then having to walk back just to get my car. This will mean a whole lot less stress for Brianna. Also, my breaks this semester are soooo much better and longer, because I am technically only taking three classes (+ their respective labs). My breaks on Monday and Wednesday are from 11:00 to 1:30 and then I have classes until 5:40 on Mondays and 6:20 on Wednesdays. Then on Tuesdays I only have class from 9-12 and on Thursdays from 1-4. Fridays are my favorite, though with only class from 9-11.

So all in all, my schedule rocks this semester, I only have three classes and orchestra. So I think my favorite part about this semester is going to be Plant Form and Function. I'm really excited, because I think that on top of taking it, I might be working at the greenhouse again this summer, for some extra money. I'm super pumped!

I also am coming right along on my picture a day thing. We'll see how that turns out at the end of the month!

So for the rest of the day, I must go get my last text books at the bookstore and possibly some new notebooks or pens or something school supply-ish. Who knows, I might even treat myself to a lunch at the CX. Wanna come?! lol

Have a great week! Thanks for reading!

Resolution updates

So I have decided to revise my New Year's Resolutions. I want to be able to put more pretty pictures on my blog, so I want to make a resolution to take at least one picture every day. I don't take near enough pictures. So, at the end of the year/month or whatever I can make a little overview of the time elapsed. Also, I haven't done very good in my trying to walk/jog thing yet, but I have been eating more fruits and veggies and  less junk and in the past week I have lost 5 pounds! Woo! It's not much, but at least it's some progress. I can totally do this!!!

So I am pretty darn stoked about this semester. Last semester was hard, I had a lot of classes, and I like never got to see my friends. This semester, Karasyn and I have the same breaks so we are totally going to do lunch more often and study together. She's taking chemistry this semester so studying together will be somewhat relevant ; )  I am just really excited to see what the Lord has in store for me this year! Hope your 2012 has been great so far!
