So since my last post I moved!

Here are a couple of pics... I want to post more later cause there is GREAT natural light in my room! Anyway, moving is weird and I'm still getting used to it... The new place.

Today I accidentally missed my first analytical chemistry lab. Oops! So my goal for tomorrow is to not miss any classes or my orchestra audition. Then after the very long day I have to rush to McAlister's for a fundraiser for Jeremy (a guy from my church who got in a terrible motorcycle accident and is in the hopsital) and then church! Yay! Hopefully I can have a sleep over too! :D Happy school year!

moving is scary stuff

I have never moved. Well, I've never remembered moving. When I was two my family moved from Strafford to Springfield, and we've lived in the same house for the past 18 years. Tomorrow is the first time I am ever going to remember moving and I don't even know what to bring. I haven't started packing clothing or anything, so right now I'm making my checklist (that I should have done weeks ago, I guess). Ooops!

just a few new things in my life...

1) Last night Karasyn and I had a Mary Kay party! It was super duper fun! We had a lot of girls come out for facials and snacks!

2) I move on Saturday! Eeeeeeeep! I'm so nervous and excited! I can't believe this is real life. Just 6 months ago I was thinking it was a pipe dream that I could live on campus at all at Drury, then this application just fell into my lap and I just happened to get accepted! It's really exciting that I get to meet new people and I am actually living on my own on campus, but I'm nervous about getting along with the girls and having to buy my own groceries and not being close to my church and friends... I almost feel like I won't be as close to my friends because I literally will be further away. It's silly I know, but I feel like I'm going to miss out on a lot of stuff at home. :/ But all in all, I'm getting really excited to be on campus and get the full "college" experience, and I'm just saying Karasyn better be there, like A LOT! :)

3) I'm so excited to start a fresh new schedule with new professors and subjects :) All of my textbooks are on their way and I'm getting super stoked to be all organized and everything! Also, this is THE YEAR! I have to have to have to get my shadowing in this next year and study for the MCAT because this coming June I take the MCAT and start applying to med school. OH MY GOOOOOSSSSHHHH!! I can't believe this is happening. Like it's really really happening. I'm sort of freaking out right now!!! AH!

4) I have a new obsession with Zac Efron. He's super hot and I want to go see The Lucky One. :) hehe

5) I'm loving the new song by Little Big Town, "Pontoon", "Lights" by Ellie Goulding and "Everybody Talks" by Neon Trees. Check them out! Something for everyone, no?

6) I really wanna finish The Help before school starts. It has taken me way too long to read it (I feel like a terrible friend cause I've had it for a few months now :/) and I won't have time when school starts, so that's my goal!

7) My little brother started HIGH SCHOOL today!!!!!! I can't believe it!!!

back to school = end of summer

These are the final days of summer. Babysitting my cousin when my aunt goes back to work. Sitting outside reading in this gorgeous pre-fall weather. Going to Boca Mocha with friends. Next week is the LAST week of summer and I am having mixed feelings. I am really excited to start my new classes and be on campus, but I don't know how this new job and new living arrangement will be and because it's something I've never done before I'm uneasy about it. I wanted to say scared, but I'm not scared. I am excited and unsure. Anyway, sitting at work tonight makes me wish I was with my friends tonight. I want to live up these last days of summer :)

Well, I hope your end of summer/back to school times are grand!

burnin' up

So I'm currently listening to this wonderful song by the Jonas Brothers! It's pretty much the best song EVER! I remember the day that Karasyn and I saw them perform it live! Flashback time!

Anyway, I'm getting ready, to get ready, to go to the Tea Room with my favorite ladies ever! Mom, Meme, Gayla, Aaliyah, Wava and Karasyn!!!! Yay!

Yesterday, Karasyn and I went and had dinner at Neighborhood (her brother works there now!!) and then we had to go to the ol' F.H. to make a DVD, which I found out this morning wasn't right and I have to go in and fix! UGH! Then we got stuff to make invitations to our Mary Kay party next week! I'm pretty stoked about that!

Have a great wednesday!! :D

Goals...

So I started reading this book about dating and in the first chapter it talks about how to get a life. In one part it talks about how to have your own goals. Here's how to start. Ask yourself, "Whith what areas in my life am I dissatisfied?" or "What do I really want in my life?" Then with the answers you make your goals. Goals must be three things in order to be succesful: Specific, Measurable, and Attainable. Then, after writing your goals, make a mission statement and read/review them daily. These are great tips that I intend to use! So with the new school year coming, there are some things that I would like to change.

School Goals:
1. I want to become more organized and manage my time better. I will write a schedule for myself and stick to it. I will not let clutter rule my life and will keep things clean, so I can focus on school more. By the end of the semester I want to have all A's which will bring my GPA up to 3.9558.
2. I want to be finished with my shadowing experiences by Thanksgiving. I have about 80 hours left to complete and I want to have it all lined up by the beginning of September. This will keep me on track with my pre-med stuff.

Financial Goals:
1. I am the world's worst budgeter. I just finished reading "The Money Answer Book" by Dave Ramsey and it talks about the importance of having a budget and keeping it. Also he says that our priorities should be to pay Tithes, Savings, then bills. I don't always put them in that order and I hardly ever save. My goal is to budget the next three months and stick to it and by Christmas have $200 in savings from my own paychecks (not loan refunds).
2. I also want to use my refund to pay some principal on my car. That way I can pay off my car by the time I graduate.

Spiritual Goals:
1. I want to read the Bible every day. This one is pretty self explanatory. It's hard to put a number on a goal like this, but I know that if I can do it everything else will fall into place.

Mission Statement:
I will use God's word and plans for my life to reduce stress caused by clutter and ill budgeted finances and create a life that glorifies God and is financially and educationally stable.

Well, that's that! This post is mainly just for me, but I hope it encourages you to make goals too! You can only achieve your goals if you know what they are!!

Mexico: the friends

So there is just no way that I can sum up the whole Mexico trip into one post so I have decided to post is it small posts :)

For my first installment I will be writing about......you guessed it!!! FRIENDS!

The best part of Mexico, for me, was the people. Every person we encountered was so welcoming and hospitable! The people at our church, Palabra de Vida, were so filled with the love of God! Here's a little bit about them. Their church is only one year old. In fact, their one year anniversary was the day we left Mexico. They have been meeting in a little house in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico.

The church has land close by but the city will not let them build a church. They are only allowed to build a house, so they have to sell the land and find new land that they can build on. It was so encouraging to see how despite their lack of space, they still had a good attitude and even though people were standing outside during the church service on Sunday morning they stayed and never complained. How often do we get cranky during church because the temperature isn't how we like it or we don't want to shuttle park because it's too far? Anyway, people at the church were so incredible!
Here is a picture of the Missouri team and the team from Palabra de Vida! Everyone is so loving and I just really hope that some day we can come back. Leaving on Friday was so hard!!!

This family was THE SWEETEST!!! Jorge was the music director/youth minister of their church and his wife, Pati, was the cutest thing! Their family is so cute and they love the Lord so much! I pray that they are so blessed! They even learned some English while we were there so we could communicate!!!

On the right is Liz, our pastor's daughter and next to her, her friend Sheila. We had great times with them!! It was cool to see two young people so dedicated to serving God in their church!

Anyway, during the trip I felt like I made a lot of friends. My camera is kinda crappy so it died a lot. I didn't get pictures of the people from Sunday (Ernesto, Juan Carlos, or Lupita) or Friday (Alberto, Genesis, Fanny, or the three hilarious girls that we sat with), but I am friends with them all on Facebook and we have talked! Which is the coolest thing ever! To be able to talk to friends from another country (with the help of Google Translator of course!) The love they all have for using their talents for God is so amazing to me and a lot of times I take that for granted.

On the subject of friends, while we were in Mexico my bestest friend in the whole wide world got saved and now we really will spend FOREVER with each other!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D I could not be more happy for her! God has been doing big things in her life lately and I'm so proud of her!

Also, I got closer to a lot of my friends from church and am so thankful for those friendships that are truly based on God! God has really blessed me by putting me in the Broadway college class! If you are looking for a place to get plugged in and serve God, Broadway is a great place to start!!!! :D

Anyway, the hour is late and I'm tired. Tomorrow is school supply shopping! I have so much more to tell everyone, but I must cut it short tonight!

Adiós!!!
