why am i such a nerd?

this question has never, ever been answered. by anyone. ever. since the beginning of time (actually, just kindergarten, which does seem like forever ago) i have loved school. i know, i'm weird. i love shopping for new school supplies, i love new classes and new teachers and trying to re-new good study habits (which probably doesn't last for more than 2 weeks.). then summer rolls around and after like three weeks i'm ready for school again.

well, this is exactly where i'm at right now. the school supplies and dorm decor has just been displayed at wal-mart and target and my anticipation is in full swing!! here are the thing that i want/need most for this school year.

last year i bought a brand new wireless scanner/printer/copier. i easily ran out of ink in like a day trying to print off music for orchestra. stupid me. i never replaced it either cause it's like $40.00 dollars to buy color and black ink at the same time. this year i will only be buying black ink at target for everyday printing.

next, as i said in a couple posts ago, i am wanting to organize my closet. in the sunday paper (that's today) there was an add for the 6-shelf organizer pictured on the right for only $6.88!! and there was also a 10-shelf organizer for shoes for the same price! that's like cheaper than the one hanging shelf i was going to buy at target! i love school supply sales!! maybe my closet organization will be sooner than i think!!

so last year i went in to the music office at school to get a locker for my violin, but you have to provide your own lock for them and they won't give you a locker until you prove you have a lock. well, i never got one, and it was a pain in the rear to have to worry about my violin everytime i had to take it to school, so this year i am going to get a lock! and STAPLES has them on sale for only $3....

college doesn't require a whole lot of school supplies, just the initial investment of a computer and then probably paper to take notes in class. since you don't have to buy a whole bunch of stupid crayons, colored pencils, scissors and such i try to splurge a bit in the paper aisle. i buy these fivestar MEAD one subject notebooks. some of its handy dandy features include a folder pocket on the inside to store handouts from class, a pen holder so you never have to search for a pen, and the cloth binding so those pesky wires don't snag your clothing!! they are the most perfect notebook a girl could ask for! they are a little pricey, but i don't mind since that's really all i need.

well, i just thought i would share some of the things i am wanting today. too bad i dont have a whole lot of money....

hope your back-to-school blues aren't too bad!!

unbelievable!

i love sales. i love thrift stores. throw them both together and what do you get?! The 50% off sale at the New Image Thrift Store comemorating Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon!!!!!!!!!

normally i wouldn't even know when man landed on the moon, but for this year (and probably only this year) I will know that Wednesday, July 20 is that day! I am so stoked about it, because I FINALLY know what I'm going to do with my thrifted door!! I was going to make it a chalkboard/bulletin board, but I have a bulletin board. then it was going to be a necklace rack/chalkboard made with cute little knobs from hobby lobby, but those are expensive... It's still going to be a necklace rack/chalkboard, but I am going to be innovative (actually a copy cat, cause i found the idea on etsy) and use silverware!!!

i mean how cute is this?!?! my dad even has the cute little metal stamps to write words on it. but i don't want to use new silverware, i want to use silverware with character! therefore the new image 50% off sale will be the PERFECT opportunity for me to get cheap used silverware for this project.

my room will soon be undergoing some serious cleanage and hopefully organization. i plan to get rid of a TON of stuff!! and i'm soooooo stoked!

I also bought some new sheets today for my bed. I really want my bedroom to look dorm-ish. I want to get a mini-fridge, but i can't afford one right now, so i will just keep a lookout at some thrift stores...

also, i am still on the lookout for the perfect car. right now, I think this '06 silver mailbu at the car lot close to work is it, but i have to wait until my dad comes home to go look at it, since he is co-signing with me....

anyway, that's about all that's going on in my neck of the woods! hope you're enjoying the triple digit temperatures, 'cause i sure am NOT!!!

excitement

i'm starting to get pretty excited for the new projects i want to start and for school to start!! (i know, i'm a dork.)

the first project i want to work on is the $3 door i bought at a garage sale. i'm going to turn it into a necklace rack/chalkboard. its gonna be super duper cute!!

the next project is my closet. it's going to take quite a while for me to do this one cause i have to wait until i clean out my closet and have a garage sale to finish it up. i'm going to get rid of a BUNCH of stuff and then use the money i make to buy some closet organization things.

amongst those things is this hanging closet shelf. i desperately need this.

i also really need a more efficient way of storing my shoes. hence this rotating shoe rack.

and last but not least, i need a new rectangle hamper because my round one is falling apart and takes up way too much room.

i guess im kind of on an organization kick lately. i reorganized my pretty desk and am working on a better filing system for my statements, bills, school paperwork, etc.

as of right now that's all that's going on in my life. i kinda need a fun day soon, but since i have pretty much been broke for like a month i haven't had time or money to do so. on a better note, tomorrow is PAYDAY! although, i do owe my mother quite a bit of money, now :( i need to budget better. maybe that will be tomorrow's project!

have a lovely and organized week!! ;)

sad little aveo....

so last night, my night off, my mom and brother and aunt and i went car shopping and i found the cutest little orange chevy aveo, but it didn't have a price. today i called and it was only $6993 and i super stoked, but my mom and dad went to look at it tonight and apparently it has hail damage all over it.... :( sad day!

so the car search continues......

weird

i have just been feeling really strange lately. i feel like this songs sums it all up.

on one hand i am super excited for the new school year coming up, but on the other hand i can't stop feeling sorry for myself about other things. its getting really bad. i have skipped church a lot since summer started to be with my family and everything and i feel disconnected to most of my friends. what's wrong with me?!

fed up!

no this post isn't a rant. i know, i know!! it looks like it! anyway, i was just going to say i'm sick of summer and ready for the school year. a new school year is like a fresh start!! you renew your study habits, refresh your stock of school supplies and get a new schedule, which always makes me experiment with what i want to do with my free time! :) i think i will post on that later! in the meantime i'm just checking in!!

i got on craigslist for the first time ever and it's crazy what people put on there!!

in other news, i'm looking for a cheap car!

im at work and should probably get off, so have a happy fourth!!! :D

organizada.....

today i am feeling the urge to re-organize my bedroom. i am going to have a garage sale in the fall to get rid of excess clutter and make room for important things. also, i have been saving A LOT of things and collecting them for the off chance that i do move out(which officially won't be happening for three years). i want to go through all of them and find a successful way of storing them until that time.

Here are a few of the main things I want to get rid of in my garage sale, so if you're looking for any of these things, let me know!!

1)  clothes........

i have so many clothes it isnt even funny. and i keep buying more!! i find them at thrift stores and garage sales and i just can't stop from buying them cause they are so cheap!! but then i go to do my laundry and i have no hangers or room in my closet. i don't have a dresser or anything, so i have to really be innovative with my clothes storage. the thing that i need to get rid of is all of my t-shirts. i probably have around 50 old t-shirts that i save because i think that i could use those or maybe i will need them to paint or work or something. i will for sure be going through all of my clothes to get rid of anything i havent wore in a year.

2. books

i have an entire bookshelf of books that i have read multiple times and i always think that i want to keep them, but i could really use that space for something else. i have a few collections of books like Harry Potter, Twilight and Lord of the Rings(which i have never ever read) that i want to keep, but i have so many that i just need to get rid of.

3. cds

i have so many cds. i want to get rid of them all, but i think i got rid of the cases. ooops! i want to put all of htem on my ipod and get rid of the actual cds for good. i was just thinking that i probably wouldn't be able to sell them without the cases, but i could use them as decorations in my music room i want in the future!!! maybe something like this.....

4. knick-knacks

i have a lot of these too. they are usually dollar store gifts from family members that needed a little something more to make a gift. i usually keep them cause i don't want to hurt their feelings, but since i do only have one room to decorate, i don't think i'm going to be able to keep up with them.

i'm hoping to make between $50 and $100 on this garage sale and i'm sure i will have more stuff than just this. i do need to look for a few large items to get rid of.... in the meantime i'm just trying to have fun thrifting and such this summer. hope you summer is going great!! :)
